Never ending blanket

I decided to make a MDK mitered square lap blanket for my grandma for Christmas and I just can't seem to finish. It was a last minute decision to start around Thanksgiving. Next year all Christmas knitting will be decided before October. Every time I think I have enough squares for this blanket I change my mind and want it bigger. Before you know it this thing will be bed size. I plan on a quite evening home with the kids so I am hoping for much interrupted knitting while waiting for the ball to drop.
